Uncle Nagy’s House

Just wanted to say that Mike and I have been watching Uncle Nagy’s House. It’s pretty entertaining. It’s cool to see that there are other people out there doing video just for the heck of it. I think we’ll probably go to the Episode 6 screening.

Warning: if you are offended by rape jokes, don’t bother watching the show.

  1. I’ll have to agree with Bear. I’ve watched two episodes of Uncle Nagy’s House and it has a lot of potential. It is actually pretty entertaining and funny in a dark humor kind of way.

  2. I have to admit that while I was a bit taken back by their sense of humor, after two episodes, it has started to grow on me. I’m truly sorry that I won’t be able to go to the screening of the latest episode.

  3. This really is some pretty tasteless stuff, but at the same time there is an odd charm to it. These seem almost like people I could actually have known or something. Or maybe it’s just the situation seems more “organic” than most sitcoms or something, I donno.

  4. Uncle Nagy’s is by no means for the faint of heart. It is pretty obvious that the tasteless jokes aren’t serious though. For one, they are generally willing to explore those jokes from a number of vantage points; which demonstrates they aren’t making them to be malicious or at the expense of other people. It seems to me that they are more poking fun of the prudish attitudes that make those topics taboo to talk about or laugh about.

Ultimately, I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, I really do feel the show is diamond in the rough. As you point out Dragon, it’s got lots of charm, which I think is a testament to the characters it creates and its truly screwball premise.

I don’t know what the creators’ plans for the show are, but it is something that I genuinely feel they could take to the next level if they wanted. The question though is would the show loose something at that level and/or do the creators want to take it to the next level. The whole thing is pretty punk rock and polish could easily kill it; or equally elevate it into the realm of true genius. It would be a risky enterprise to make such a move and sometimes risks just aren’t worth it. In any event, I can’t wait till show six, and I really hope that whatever they decide to do with it that the people behind it continue to create stuff. They’ve definitely got talent.
