I watch a lot of TV

OK, at Bear/Tim ‘s request I am putting this up. It’s no secret that I luvz my TV, and this is my short list of shows that I have seen 50 – 100 % of. I’d like to say that I have seen 75% + of all these shows, but that’s just not the case.

But if you know me at all – you know I love the sitcoms. I will talk about sitcoms all day if given the chance…

I love two things – Scientology, sitcoms, and heroin…

  1. Working Stiffs never comes on. Taxi used to come on but doesn’t anymore. I remember I had one summer of eating King Vitaman and watching Taxi. Oh, but I see Taxi is on the list; good for you.

Heh, I’ve also probably seen more than 90% of Murphy Brown. It’s probably the one show that I always watched with my parents.

The only sitcom I’ll flip on now is The Nanny, but that’s if no one else is around and I can watch it naked.

  2. Yeah, I should add Murphy Brown to that list too. There are a number of shows I am forgetting. ‘My Wife and Kids’ and “Mr. Belvedere” are two other notable omissions.

Brian: I’ve seen a bunch of “The Nanny,” but damn that one’s pretty rough. I wouldn’t consider Fran Drescher traditionally hot, but she’s got that “just once so she shuts the fuck up” quality that I do enjoy. When you couple an ok looking girl with a pretty major flaw (i.e. her obnoxious voice) it creates an ‘obtainable’ quality that for whatever reason is attractive. Plus, she was featured in my all-time favorite film, UHF. So she gets bonus points.

Thank God for syndication by the way… Excluding b&w classics, I wouldn’t have seen the majority of most of these shows. With the exception of solid weekly lineups (i.e. NBC in their late 80’s/early 90’s heyday, TGIF, etc,) and shows that I have actively sought out (Red Dwarf, MBB, etc,) I’ve seen very few of these first run in prime-time.

Dang. Now that I think about it… “Alice”, “Sledge Hammer”, “Parker Lewis Can’t Lose” and “Beans Baxter” need to be added to the list as well…. “Herman’s Head” is another…”Growing Pains” needs to be there too. Along with “Just the Ten of Us” “Punky Brewster” “Clarissa Explains it All” “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” “Salute your Shorts” “Valerie” “The Hogan Family” and “Charles in Charge.” And like the idiot that I am, I’ve forgotten “Newsradio” also. I’ll thow in the US and UK versions of “The Office” too.

If anyone else reads this, and thinks there is something that I have forgotten, let me know.

  3. After watching Joe watch TV, it should be noted that even though he’s seen every episode of The Simpsons, that doesn’t prevent him from watching it 2-3 times a weeks.

As far as Working Stiffs, I watched a bunch of episodes of that one weekend when there was a marathon a couple of years ago. I really wanted to like it, but ultimately, it sucked ass.
