Crowspun, has gone to fix the wheeler, so he's taken a spin right over to the dealer's for an inspection leaving Scarehat alone in the swamp drinking bog-water again doing the stomp trying to remember why he wears a hat January through December.

“Crowspun has gone to fix the wheeler” has the nicest feel to it. Just reads so easy. It’s pretty.
Nice shading on the illustration too.
My favorite is, “in the swamp drinking bog water”. What else would a scarecrow be doing in a swamp? Drinking bog water, what else! It’s a nice image.
I like the thought of what’s going on in the deserted places when no one’s there. Fae and scarecrows and such chillin’ in the dusk and noon.
I like the melancholy human feel that comes from humanising the literally inanimate human figure of the scarecrow.
Right on about the melancholy, with sort of a longing or something like nostalgia too. Which is apparently the definition of wistful.
