The Reckless Proliferation of Facial Hair

January 9th, 2006 @ 10:09 pm by Peter

This shot you guys took of a truckstop patron caught my eye and gave me a chuckle:

Them there's some ass-kickin' mud flaps.

I showed it to She Dragon and She in turn wryly pointed out the salty growth of barnacles that’d recently taken hold on my own face:

A seaman's work is never done.

Proof once again that people with shag carpets shouldn’t throw lice.

Or something slightly more coherent.

DNG Workflow

November 8th, 2005 @ 1:27 am by Tim

Here’s some workflow helper scripts for digital photography. A couple of assumptions are made with these scripts:

  • You use OS X 10.4 - mandatory since this stuff uses Automator.
  • You use Adobe DNG (version 3.2) - not mandatory, but you have to take out the dng conversion steps.
  • You want your photos stored in a date hierarchy, specifically /yy/mmddyy/yyyymmdd-xxxx.dng. The xxxx is the original number from the raw file. As an example, a photo taken on Aug. 11th, 2005 would be stored in /05/081105/20050811-2927.dng.
  • I use a Canon Digital Rebel, so the naming conventions are CRW_xxxx.CRW, CRW_xxxx.THM, and IMG_xxxx.JPG

The Market

October 11th, 2005 @ 8:23 pm by Tim

Long time, no see. I’ve got a couple of things that I’ve been meaning to post, but you know how it goes. Anyway, Mike was bugging me to put some pictures up, so here’s one from China. This is from a street market.

the market

Points of interest:

  • crate full of bunny rabbits
  • crate full of “meal beetles” or whatever you call the beetles that meal worms turn into
  • crate full of multicolored bugs
  • most importantly, crate full of dyed baby chickens

I’m not sure what is appealing about a green chick, but there it is. I didn’t ask for the price of any of these, but I’m sure it was dirt cheap.
