Cool. I'm glad you see it too. There are actually plenty of gamers like us who rate Adventure of Link as "greatly under-rated." Go into any classic game review site and they are everywhere, but unfortunately that segment just doesn't represent enough of the population to justify any more major releases of its kind.

Just the other day though I was thinking how cool an online version might be, where you could battle other players with an assortment of weapons and armor, or team up for adventure. There are a few 2D side-scrolling combat online games out there, but I'm not sure of any weapons based ones, other than pure Street Fighter-type games.

Those Ironknuckle battles are the reason I love Zelda II so much. This game is so much more challenging than more recent Zelda titles. The collision detection is great. Oh, and you can't forget that Zelda II introduced the downward thrust that Link enjoys today.

I like the one or two Ironknuckles in The Ocarina of Time, but those still don't touch the level of excitement that ZII offers. Windwaker got a bit better with the rolling-dodge-N-cut maneuver.

I was just playing the GBA version of Zelda II on the DS just today. It just doesn't get old.

Too bad more players couldn't see the quality this gem had to offer.

I backpeddled a bit and editted my key statement to: "[Zelda 2 is] the video game that has the most interesting swordplay, as far as I am aware." This is mainly because there are some other games with interesting swordplay (the fencing event in Epix's Summer Games for Commodore 64 is the first that comes to mind, others include Bushido Blade and maybe, ---maybe---, Soul Calibre).

Well, I always sort of wondered why exactly you rated Zelda II so high. It makes sense now. It has been a really long time since I've actually played it. I woulnd't mind playing it again. I just don't want to have to play it as a ROM.
